Gilles Villeneuve Full Throttle Air Freshener

$5.00

As far as we know, F1 drivers don’t usually hang air fresheners in their cockpits. But if Gilles Villeneuve had to choose one, it would likely be the unmistakable scent of gasoline and burning rubber—the fragrances of a car running full throttle, all day long. He was the last person who had the totally uninhibited joy of racing a car.

The Full Throttle Air Freshener is printed with the quote 'The last person who had the totally uninhibited joy of driving a racing car'.

The Scent of Speed

According to Gaston Parent, Villeneuve’s manager, Gilles would, before a race, "Go like hell, come to the place where he was supposed to start, then slam on the brakes to leave two big black marks on the track". Villeneuve explained that "When I go to my place on the grid, I put my tires on the black marks and when the race starts I have rubber on rubber for better traction". If you look carefully, two big black marks are visible in films of Villeneuve’s races.

Blistering Getaway At the 1979 Austrian Grand Prix, Gilles launched a sensational start, blasting down the outside to overtake the entire field in the opening moments.

Monaco Mastery

Gilles Villeneuve’s 1981 Monaco win was a masterclass—he tamed an unwieldy Ferrari 126C, claiming victory in what many call the greatest Monaco drive.

Trois-Rivières 1975

At the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix in Formula Atlantic, Gilles got off to an impressive start but was forced to retire on the 60th lap.
